If grass is browning now due to watering to often or frequently...what should do to correct this?

Root damage could have well come from the Cicadas which have emerged, causing your grass to turn brown. Once they leave the ground the Cicadas complete their life cycle in the trees, mate and lay eggs. They don't return below the soil. You might be watering your grass too much which would promote fungi growth. I would water 1 hour every three days. Good luck.
